OVERVIEW
Timbung Pokhari trek is a very majestic, unique, and mythical trek situated at the border in Sindigwa Rural Municipality at Taplejung and of Panchthar’s Yangwarak Rural Municipality. Timbung Pokhari is located at an elevation of 4335m. The Timbung Pokhari Trek carries holy importance and it is located at the laps of Mt. Kanchenjunga.
Timbung Pokhari is also known as ‘the gunshot pond’. Timbung refers to the ‘gunfire shot’ in the Limbu language of people living around there. The main highlight of the pond is Mt. Kanchenjunga and the mystic pond itself.
Best Time for Timbung Pokhari Trek
April to May: It is wintertime. You can enjoy the snow, Rhododendron, and Magnolia trees on the trails.
June to September: It is a summer trek. You can enjoy the greenery and see the different wildflowers on the trail.
October to November: During this period the weather is very moderate and good to trek. The weather offers clear views along the trail and in destinations as well.
Timbung Pokhari Trek: Flora and Faunas
Timbung Pokhari trail is very rich in unique plants and herbs that are very difficult to find in other particular destinations. Herbs like Bikham, Kutki, Padamchal, Jatamasi, panchaule and Yarsagumba can be found here. You can see the Rhododendron Forest throughout the trek.
While talking about Faunas that are found in Timbung Pokhari trek are Himalayan blue sheep, Himalayan goral, bear, snow leopard, musk deer, red panda, and many more. In the dense forests, while walking the trail, you can see these animals.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Our office representative will receive you from the airport and escort you to the booked hotel. The provided room will be on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: Trek Preparation and Kathmandu Sightseeing
You can either buy or rent the required gear for the trek in Thamel. Today, you can visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square and try delicious Newari foods served in the places around Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
Day 3: Kathmandu to Bhadrapur to Thapru
Today, you will catch the flight to Bhadrapur from Tribhuvan International Airport. Then you have to ride for 6 and half hours to reach Tharpu. You will be staying at Tharpu overnight.
Day 4: Thapru to Betaine (2000m)
After grabbing breakfast in the early morning, you have to travel in a vehicle for around 4-5 hours to reach Falaicha and you have to hike to Kalikhola Gau for 2-3 hours, then you will reach Betainee for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Betaine to Bikhe Chaur (3675m)
You will be starting your trek today after having breakfast. Today, you have to trek for around 6-7 hours to reach Bikhechaur. You will be staying at Barn house with the tent on.
Day6: Bikhechaur to Timbung Pokhari(4335m)-Bikhechaur
It will take around 4-5 hours to reach Timbung Pokhari from Bikhechaur. Explore Timbung Pokhari and return to Bikhechaur for an overnight stay.
Day7: Trek down to Kali Khola Gau
Today, you have to trek for 4-5 hours to reach Kali Khola Gau for an overnight stay.
Day8: Trek to Betainee and Ride to Illam
It will take around 3 hours to reach Betainee and after that ride to Illam. Explore the greenery hills of Illam.
Day9: Illam to Bhadrapur
You can visit the tea garden on the way to Bhadrapur from Illam. It will take around 5-6 hours to reach Illam.
Day10: Bhadrapur to Kathmandu
You have to take a flight from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu.
Day11: Leisure in Kathmandu
After reaching Kathmandu you can visit the different places in Kathmandu Valley that are listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. We will have a cultural dinner together before your departure.
Day12: Departure Kathmandu
Fly back to your destination.
