Gosaikunda Lake Trek offers an unforgettable experience in the Himalayas. It is a pilgrimage site, which is visited by hundreds of pilgrims every year during Janai Purnima. Pilgrims take holy baths in the lake and pray for the betterment of their loved ones. The Gosaikunda Lake is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva and Gauri as per Hindu mythology. You can see this lake mentioned in many Hindu manuscripts as well.

During Gosaikunda lake Trek, you get to see the lifestyle and culture of locals. Tamangs and Sherpas are the main residences of this region. You get to spend time with them and interact with them. You will get a chance to trek in the mountainous region of Nepal; discover amazing places, and know a lot of new things about Nepal. You will pass through many rhododendron forests, rivers, streams, and villages en route to Gosaikunda. Gosaikunda Lake Trekking also offers stunning views of the glacier and many snow-capped Himalayan mountains like Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Mt. Manasalu, Mt. Hiunchuli, and several other peaks.

Teahouses on the way are basic. They only provide you with basic facilities like good food, and nice accommodation.

Best season for Gosaikunda lake Trek

The Autumn season during the month of September, October, and November is the most favorable time for Gosaikunda Lake. During this season, you can also enjoy your walks in the Langtang region in warm, dry weather. The trails are also in their best condition. The clear blue skies during this season also offer breathtaking views of the mountain peaks. Another best season is the Spring season during the month of March, April, and May. You can enjoy the blooms of the local flora in the Langtang National Park in the spring season. You get views of entire sections of forest covered in pink, red, and yellow blooms of rhododendron.

Itinerary: Gosaikunda Lake Trek

Day1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. Our Staff member meets you and transfers you to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day2: Kathmandu to Dhunche (2030 meters)

After breakfast, you will start our travel early in the morning. It will take us around 5-6 hours to reach Dhunche. Dhunche is a small settlement area and the headquarter of the Rasuwa district.

On the way, you will be able to enjoy the picturesque settlements and meadows. Through beautiful scenic route and along with immense Trishuli river. After your arrival in Dhunche, you will roam around the village and interact with locals. After spending a wonderful evening with locals, you will stay overnight in a well-maintained lodge.

Breakfast: Kathmandu

Lunch: Malekhu

Dinner: Dhunche

Day3: Dhunche to Cholangpati (3585 meters)

After breakfast, you have to drive to Thulo Barkhu and you will start the first day of your trek. First, you will ascent through lush woodlands of blossoming rhododendron and pine forest. Today, you will be passing through some of the renowned villages of the region like Thulo Syabru and Shin Gompa.

At Shin Gompa, you can see monasteries and a local cheese factory located among the Himalayas. Please feel free to have a little tour around the factory and enjoy some authentic local cheese while you admire the surrounding of the region.

Due to the rise in altitude, beginner trekkers may find the journey from Shin Gompa to Cholangpati quite challenging. But the uphill climb into the forest and the occasional sights of the Himalayas make the journey exciting.

Trek duration: 7-8 hours

Breakfast: Dhunche

Lunch: Thulo Syabru

Dinner: Cholangpati

Day 4: Cholangpati to Gosaikunda Lake (4385 meters)

The trek from Cholangpati to Lauribinayak is challenging, but the views afterward make it all worth it. Around 2 hours of the walk will take us to Lauribinayak(3900m).  Now the views of mountains like Langtang Lirung(7234m), Langtang Ri(7205m), Manaslu(8163m), and Ganesh Himal(7422m) are close and clear.

From Lauri Binayak, a panoramic view of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Manasalu and Langtang Ri can be enjoyed. Then, after hiking up for roughly 2 hours, you will reach a Buddha temple, which carries both Hindu and Buddhist values. After hiking for half an hour you will see the first lake, Saraswati Kunda, then Bhairav Kunda, and the Mighty Lake Gosaikunda. You will visit other nearby lakes like Ganesh Kunda, Ragat Kunda, Surya Kunda, etc., and spend the night in a tea house.

Day5: Gosaikunda Lake to Dhunche

Today is the last trekking day. So, enjoy every bit of the trek. You take the same route through Lauribinayak to Chandanbari to Dunche. It’s a pretty long downhill hike through pine forests that changes slowly as we lose altitude. Enjoy the alluring views of mountains, pine forest, and the flavourful cheese of Chandanbari, we will be hiking downhills. Since we will be descending, hiking will be a bit easier and more fun. Overnight at a well-maintained lodge.

Trek duration: 8 hours

Breakfast: Gosainkunda

Lunch: Chandanbari

Dinner: Dhunche

Day6: Dhunche to Kathmandu

After 6 – 7 hours of driving, we reach Kathmandu in the late afternoon. Enjoy the evening or nightlife in the capital or rest and check your luggage for tomorrow’s departure. Overnight at a luxury hotel.

Day7: Departure Nepal

As per the departure time, a staff member will pick you up from the hotel and transfers you to the airport for the final departure.
