Kongde valley Trek is probably one of the most beautiful and exciting treks in Nepal. This trek offers you the beauty of mother nature, colors of culture, art, and tradition along with the thrill of being like a bird while roaming around the world’s highest peak in a helicopter. Kongde is the name of the mountain peak which is 6,187 meters long. You can see the 360-degree view of mountain ranges from Kongde valley.

Best Season: Kongde Valley trek

The best season for the Kongde valley trek is during Autumn season during the month of October and November. During this season, the skies are clear, and can explore more of the region. After the monsoon, the hills also show you the best of it.

Attractions: Kongde Valley trek

The trail is full of mani walls and small monasteries till Toktok and after Toktok check post, the trail is more into the wild where you can see different kinds of animals and birds.

Wildlife: Himalayan Tahr, Goral, Musk deer, Pikka weasel, and many more. The animals which are rarely seen are the Himalayan black bear, wolf, lynx, and snow leopard.

Birds: Rufous-vented tit, White-winged grosbeak, Coal tit, Kalij pheasant, Red-headed bull-finch, Himalayan Monal, Golden eagle, Blood pheasant, Orange flanked bush robin, Alpine accentor, and many more.

Mountains: You can view the full Everest ranges from here. Other mountains you can see are Mount Thamserku, Mount Kyashar, Mount Kusum Khangkarda, and many more.

Culture: The people here are mostly Sherpas. You can see and experience the typical Sherpa culture, traditions, and customs.

Permits: Kongde Valley trek

You have to pay two permit charges for the Kongde Valley trek.

  1. Sagarmatha nation park entry permit: For foreigners 3,390 NPR, SAARC: 1,500 NPR
  2. Khumbu Pasang Rural Municipality Entry: 2000 NPR

Itinerary: Kongde Valley Trek

Day1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Our office representative will receive you from the Tribhuvan International Airport and take you to the hotel.

Day2: Exploring Kathmandu / Trek Preparation

Today, you can visit Swyambhunath Stupa, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Patan Durbar Square and can buy or rent trekking gear.

Day3: Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding (2610 meters)

Today, you will be flying to Lukla from Kathmandu airport in the morning and have to trek to Phakding which is around 3 hours trek. You will be staying overnight at Yeti Mountain Home.

Day4: Phakding to Namche Bazar (3,440 meter)

Today, you have to trek for around 6 hours to reach Namche from Phakding. After crossing the breathtaking suspension bridge under which the Dudh Koshi river flows, one can also visit the museum of Sherpa culture on the way to Namche Bazar. You will be staying at Yeti Mountain Home.

Day5: Explore Namche (Heli tour to Everest basecamp, Khumbu icefall)

Today, you can see the amazing bird’s eye view of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Kantega, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, and many more. You can also see the view of Everest basecamp and the Khumbu icefall. You can also visit Edmund Hillary school and Everest Museum. 

Day6: Namche Bazar to Thame (3,750 meter)

Today, you have to trek for 3 hours. Thame is the home of legend Tensing Norgay sherpa. You can also visit the 16th-century ‘Nyingmapa Gompa’ monastery. You can also see the view of Mt. Thamserku and Mt. Kusum Kanguru from Thame.

Day7: Thame to Kongde (4,250 meter)

Today, after having breakfast you have to climb through very beautiful rhododendron, pine, and bamboo forests to reach the beautiful glacier lake of Kongde Peak. From where you can also see whole mesmerizing ranges of Mt. Everest.

Day8: Rest Day / Additional hike to Farak peak (4,600 meters)

You can hike for around 2 hours to reach Farak peak from where you can see almost every part of the Sagarmatha region including Lukla with mesmerizing views of mountain peaks and hills. There is a lower point and upper point of Farak peak. Overnight stay at Yeti Mountain Home.

Day9: Kongde to Lukla (2,860 meters)

You will be returning to Lukla for an overnight stay. It will take around 6-7 hours trek to reach Lukla from Kongde. You can have lunch at Phakding. You will be staying overnight at Yeti Mountain Home.

Day10: Lukla to Kathmandu

You will fly to Kathmandu from Lukla according to your flight time. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Day11: Exploring Kathmandu

You can visit Pashupatinath temple, Bouddhanath stupa, and Budanilkantha today. We will have a cultural dinner together. We will make availability of the lab person at your hotel for the PCR test process.

Day12: Departure Kathmandu

You will be leaving Nepal today. Our vehicle will drop you at the airport from the hotel.
